Ançã is a Historic Village of Bairrada - a viticulture region in the center of Portugal, close to the Atlantic Ocean. Its history has a strong relationship with some of the oldest and most iconic monuments of Portgal, as most of them were built with a special type of limestone from the lands of Ançã. This limestone makes part of the soil which, mixed with clay, is one of the most distinctive elements of the Bairrada Terroir, a land of strong character wines.
